I’ve been working hard on developing a good understanding of how to use Ableton Live for music production. As common as it is, I’d like to produce some brostep tracks- perhaps an entire ep of some heavy-hitting brostep. Music elitists like to say that brostep doesn’t display much, or any emotion, but I disagree.

   Brostep has managed to tap into a feeling that resonates with a LARGE audience. This is quite apparent, as it has quickly become one of the most mainstream genres of EDM in the world. When I listen to brostep, I am overcome by the same feeling of aggression that I get when I listen to metal. When done correctly, brostep can depict a serious emotional release.

   It’s really a shame that this type of dubstep has been given the name “brostep”, as it implies that the music is ONLY appreciated by a typical “bro”, who doesn’t value depth in their music. This is so untrue….

The fact that I don’t want to buy Diablo 3 is causing me to question my life as a whole. What the hell are my interests? School has robbed my of my passion for anything, for the most part. The only things that I ever have the desire to do are go to shows, to escape the burdens of day-to-day living, or do something rebellious- I’m always out to stick it to the man. Yet, I try to do it in a conservative, respectful way (ridiculous, I know). The only way to do this is through art, which comes out nice, I suppose.

To those who are buying/have bought diablo 3: enjoy it. Not just for yourselves, but for me, and the less fortunate. By that I mean that there are people who have lost most, if not all of their general interests and overall enthusiasm to have any serious hobbies- it’s a terrible form of apathy.
